Research Topics

  • Wastewater reuse system in arid area
Combination of wastewater treatment and energy recovery (supply) technologies will be optimized base on a water reuse purpose.

  • Resource recovery from organic wastes
Production of organic acids and/or methane from carbohydrate-rich wastes and their optimization will be investigated in consideration of microbial consortia.

  • Alternative energy operation in consideration of locality
Photovoltaic system (grid parity) will be discussed considering fluctuant individual power demands and
weather conditions.

Research Contents

Our research field is environmental and sanitary engineering, one of parts of civil engineering. Our laboratory’s policy is re-thinking conventional technologies in our field based on a comprehensive view of human activities. We focus on not only individual technologies as elements, but also interactions between technologies and human activities, meaning a whole system understanding. We also try to realize local environmental issues as the same way. One of recent topics in the local issues is introduction of alternative energy sources, such as a photovoltaic energy system. Our laboratory will develop technologies relating to wastewater and waste managements as well as local energy management toward the sustainable local development.
