Doshisha University was admitted as Associate Member of the Top Industrial Managers for Europe (T.I.M.E.) Association at the meeting of the Advisory Committee in Madrid, Spain, on February 5 and 6, 2015, in accordance with the vote of the 2014 General Assembly in Lille, France. This made Doshisha the third Japanese university to become a member institution of the T.I.M.E. Association, following Keio University and Tohoku University.
Doshisha University fulfilled the prerequisites for admission, which include the highest standard graduate curriculum in engineering in the applicant’s country, and significant research activity of international level. Recommendations from three current T.I.M.E. member institutions in different countries were also required.
By utilizing the T.I.M.E. networks effectively, Doshisha aims to cultivate internationally active engineers and further promote international collaboration in education and research through double degree programs.
* Established in 1989 by 16 European institutions, T.I.M.E. is an international university consortium in science and engineering with the aim of contributing to the development of world-class engineers through collaboration among European universities and the promotion of double-degree programs at Master’s and Doctoral levels. Its network has now expanded beyond Europe to nations such as Brazil, Japan, China and Australia, all home to universities and institutions renowned for their excellence in science and engineering fields. It is currently composed of 56 member institutions－among them Doshisha－in 21 countries.
