On September 1 and 2, 2016, the 134th Meeting of the Surface Finishing Society of Japan was held at Tohoku University in Miyagi Prefecture, where Assistant Professor Kenji Kawaguchi of the Organization for Research Initiatives and Development received the 18th Outstanding Presentation Award.
Assistant Professor Kawaguchi succeeded in separately regulating oxygen evolution, an anode reaction in acid aqueous solution (main reaction), and reaction overpotential for PbO2
electrodeposition (side reaction), by producing ‘nano/amorphous hybrid catalyst’, with nanosized IrO2
particles being highly dispersed in amorphous Ta2
matrix. It was this highly regarded research that led to the award.
Title of Presentation:
‘Reaction Overpotential/Crystallization Overpotential and Reaction Selectivity of Nano/Amorphous Hybrid Catalyst’
Kenji Kawaguchi (Specially Appointed Researcher and Assistant Professor, Organization for Research Initiatives and Development)
Masatsugu Morimitsu (Professor, Faculty of Science and Engineering)
