Shogo Kawaguchi (Graduate School of Science and Engineering) Receives Poster Award at 40th Symposium on Solution Chemistry of Japan

Updated Nov. 15, 2017
From October 19 to 21, 2017, the 40th Symposium on Solution Chemistry of Japan was held at Egret Himeji in Hyogo Prefecture. At the event, Shogo Kawaguchi of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering (Major of Applied Chemistry) received the Poster Award.

Kawaguchi conducted detailed analysis of the counter anion dependence regarding the luminescence quantum yields of phospole molecules using a time-resolved fluorometry, and clarified that there are two different contribution factors to the quenching process of fluorescence, and that the size of each contribution factor changes greatly depending on the types of anions and solvents. This analysis was highly commended as it could lead to the clarification of a new mechanism regarding fluorescence quenching.
