Professor Yoshitsugu Takei (Faculty of Science and Engineering) Receives 2017 MSJ Analysis Prize

Updated Oct. 13, 2017
From September 11 to 14, the MSJ (Mathematical Society of Japan) Autumn Meeting 2017 was held at Yamagata University, where Professor Yoshitsugu Takei of the Faculty of Science and Engineering received the 2017 MSJ Analysis Prize.

Professor Takei has long been involved with asymptotic analysis of differential equations using WKB analysis. The professor has achieved a series of significant results, including the establishment of the logical underpinnings of exact WKB analysis. He has also made achievements in the areas of virtual turning points of high-order linear equations, the exact WKB analysis of the Painlevé equation and higher-order versions, and semi-classical analysis of diabatic transition, etc. Recently, Professor Takei has proposed new study themes such as WKB analysis of discrete Painlevé equations by conducting WKB analysis of asymptotic expansion with parameters.
These achievements were highly commended for the award.

Title of Presentation:
