Please read the following instructions carefully and proceed with your course registration on DUET.

Advanced Registration is required for some courses. Please refer to the following link for the course in ISTC that requires Advanced Registration.

Advanced Registration period for ISTC courses for the Spring semester 2025 is from March 24 at 10am to April 7 at 5pm

Japanese Language Registration

Students who wish to register for Japanese Language and Culture Subjects, please follow the steps below.

①Refer to the chart below and find your current language level.

②Take the test which is appropriate for your current language level.
＜Japanese Language Placement Test for Intermeditate to Advanced＞
Current students who have taken Japanese Language and Culture Subjects in the previous academic year are also required to take the Placement Test before the Spring semester. There will be no Placement Test for current students in the Fall. If you plan to register for any Japanese Language and Culture Subjects in the academic year 2025 (Spring and/or Fall semesters), please make sure to take the Placement Test in the following schedule. 

  Placement Test Registration URL:　 Information will be sent to your email/DUET on March 1.
  Placement Test Period:　 From Tuesday, March 4 at 10:00am to Friday, March 7 at 9:00pm

＜Japanese Language Classification Test for Beginners＞

If you wish to take the Classification Test for Beginners, please register through MS Forms (https://forms.office.com/r/k7NXFzZKUX) during the application period.

  Classification Test Application Period:  April 1 at 9:00am - April 7 at 9:00am 
  Classification Test Day:  Thursday, April 10, 1:30pm - 3:30pm

③Register for Japanese Courses
＜For students who take Japanese Placement Test for Intermeditate to Advanced＞
Please submit Course Registration Form below by email or in person to ISTC office during the general course registration period.

＜For students who take Classification Test for Beginners＞
Please register by MS-Forms during the course registration period for Japanese Language Introductory Course (By April 18 at 9:00am). MS-Forms link for registration will be sent by email with the test result.

*Please keep in mind that the registration period for Japanese language courses varies depending on which test you take based on your language level (Intermediate to Advanced or Beginners).
*Those who wish to take Japanese Language Introductory Course, please do your best to be able to read and write all of Hiragana and Katakana characters before the classes begin.
*Some of the Japanese Language and Culture Subjects require Advanced Registration. Please refer to the information in the link below and do not miss the Advanced Registration period (from March 24 to April 4) to register for these courses. Please note that you have to register for these courses by submitting Course Registration Form (not through DUET) and that you can only take courses offered at Kyotanabe Campus.
