Research Topics

Organisms, including humans, have evolved using oxygen, but have always been at a risk of oxidative damage caused by active oxygen and free radicals. Oxidative stress causes various diseases and promotes aging. On the other hand, oxidative stress has been demonstrated to be involved in signaling pathways to regulate cell functions and enhance defense functions. We will elucidate these mechanisms and, by controlling oxidative stress, establish methods to maximize adaptive responses inherent to humans.
